The Bouclème range contains a unique blend of plant actives chosen for their proven therapeutic effects on dry curly hair.
Virgin coconut oil, one of the key ingredients in our Curl Cleanser, Curl Conditioner and Curl Defining Gel has been used across the globe for thousands of years and it's easy to see why when you understand it's amazing properties and benefits.
It's rich in Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Iron, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory Lauric, Caprylic, Capric, Myristic and Palmitic acids.
Where most products only coat the surface of the hair coconut oil is molecularly small enough to penetrate into the hair cortex (the inner part) moisturising and strengthening hair from the inside out.
Reduces protein loss
Hair is made up of approx 91% protein which can become easily damaged with brushing, heat styling, colouring and chemical processing curly hair. Lauric acid which makes up about 50 per cent of coconut oil binds easily to hair proteins helping to protect and prevent hair breakage. A study conducted in 2003 revealed that coconut oil can reduce or prevent hair protein loss more effectively than mineral and sunflower oils, two common ingredients of many hair care products.
Contains antibacterial and antifungal properties
Coconut oil’s antibacterial and antifungal properties helps soothe and moisturise dry irritated and inflamed scalps as well as dandruff. It's also extremely beneficial to fungal infections of the scalp like ringworm.
High moisture retention
Coconut oil also has a high moisture retention capacity, it does not let moisture escape, keeping hair soft and moist. Applying some coconut oil to curls after your Curl Conditioner and before Curl Defining Gel helps seals moisture in and keeps curly hair hydrated and defined for longer.
This is a 'must have' ingredient for all curls!
